NORTHWOOD | Winnebago Cooperative Telecom Association will install new fiber optic lines in the Northwood area this spring, the company announced Thursday.
The expansion will allow approximately 260 homes and businesses access to digital television and the high-speed internet available through WCTA's fiber optic cable.
The project includes connecting Northwood Community School to the fiber optic system.
The company has mailed service information and site-survey forms to residents along the route. Residents are asked to complete the forms and return them to WCTA.
Mark Thoma, WCTA general manager, said officials plan to start construction once the weather breaks in the spring. It's expected to be done this summer.
"We're excited to look at partnering with the Northwood community and being able to offer advanced communication services," Thoma said.
